LONDON, 13 March, 2022: Following his incredible worldwide success, talented and award-winning Chinese artist Zheng Lu announces his first UK exhibition titled ‘Liquid Narratives’ at HOFA, London, 17 – 29 March 2023. Press preview 16 March, 2023 (9am – 3pm), opening night launch (6pm – 9pm).
Zheng Lu is widely recognised for his gravity-defying stainless-steel sculptural compositions which capture the ethereal beauty of water in motion and his first UK solo exhibition will feature new works from the successful 'Water in Dripping' and 'Aurora Edge' series.

Through his sculptures, the critically acclaimed Lu imbues transient moments of water in motion with a stillness that is best described as poetic. In his creations, we find softness, the quality by which water assumes infinite forms in space, now transfixed as hanging or standing sculptures created with masterful precision. He also incorporates Chinese poetry and calligraphy into his works, welding them into the forms he sculpts, and in this way, words cease to be transient but instead are reified into constitutive sculptural elements.
Zheng Lu is internationally recognised, collected, and exhibited in significant galleries and museums such as Museum of Contemporary Art, Taipei; Parkview Museum, Beijing; and Long Museum, Shanghai.
Movement, nature and manipulated steel are the commanding components within his discipline, with his works equally adaptable to outdoor and indoor spaces, as seen with his large-scale site-specific works. His artistic language translates into complex concepts, including reflective mediums, intricate script and the notion of water. These collaborating elements are heightened through a coherent framework that explore existential conditions and relationships between human and environment.

Chinese artist Zheng Lu says about his new works and HOFA exhibition, "The idea behind the series Water in Dripping originates from the fundamental concept of “stillness”. Ancient Chinese characters, pictographic characters: the shape of the ancient character of 止zhi resembled the shape of a foot. In its original meaning, it referred to the anatomical part of the body which enables us to walk. The act of walking implies moving towards a destination: while the character 止zhi evokes a sense of movement, it also encompasses the notion of stillness, as we stop walking, once we reach our destination."
